week 2

My hours this week were:
Tuesday 9am-2pm
Wednesday 9am-2pm
Thursday 8:30am-3pm
Total for the week is 16.5 hours
Total hours is 30.5 hours.

Tuesday started my second week at WGM. The morning began with realizing my desktop computer here was fried and no longer worked. It was probably over 10 years old. Luckily WGM is getting new computers in the main offices and so I got one of the old computers that was being replaced- but is still much newer than the one I had been using!

The other summer intern, Liz, started today! She will be doing writing and some graphic design and photography. I have been informed I have to have a “photo shoot” so that my picture can go on the WGM website- oh dear! Today started out with e-mailing Dan Heineman, the man I wrote my story about. Last week after writing my story I had to send it to him so he could make sure all the fact and everything were correct. I had an e-mail from him this morning with about 4 things he wanted changes, mostly adding in other people’s names and a quote modification. I made those changes and sent it back for approval. After that we had chapel and prayed for all the missionaries of WGM. Each table had a different country represented. Then I worked on e-mailing more contact people about updating their ministry information on the WGM website. Still waiting to hear back from all of them.

Wednesday started out with one last e-mail to Bob. Liz and I got briefed on one of our project- to redo all the internship information for WGM. They offer 5 internships but their promotional material is very out dated. Liz and I spent time evaluating the material and talking through what we want it to look like. We are writing and designing it. I spent a lot of time today on this. The other thing I did today was learn about the living tributes that I will be writing about retired missionaries. This will be really interesting! I get to research and go through old archives of articles missionaries have written and prayer letters and photos. I even get to go through their original applications to WGM. So I will be writing bout missionaries who are a little over 80 years old. Once I have researched I will interview them and then write 600-700 word tributes about their lives that will be posted on the WGM website.

Thursday was prayer time and then we had three people’s offices we switched around. It was a team effort and took the most of the morning. I put down my writing pencil and picked up a hammer and nails to hang pictures :D It was really fun and a great way to get to know everyone better! After that Liz and I kept working on the internship packet information. We designed a writing logo which was fun. Neither of us are all that great at graphic design but we are learning!

So this week I have done a lot of different things! I got my first story into my editor and started in on this whole internship information project which will be really fun!
